Heart of God Israel: Straight as an Arrow … “Our salvation is based upon Messiah’s work alone. We can’t gain salvation by our obedience to Torah, neither can we maintain our salvation by obedience to the Torah. The righteousness that we have is a free gift from God to us. Halleluyah! Now, in response to this gracious gift, we are called to lives of obedience.

Straight as an ArrowA new article by John Daugherty, Heart of God Israel’s Messianic teacher, has been posted.  It is the second part in a series on the Torah from a Messianic point of view (click here to read the entire article).  We certainly appreciate John’s balanced teaching!  For instance, he writes:

“… was John teaching that keeping the commandments made one righteous?  Of course not!  He was saying that if one has truly experienced salvation by faith in the work of Jesus, then his lifestyle will be marked by righteousness and not sin.  If one’s life is marked by sin, defined by John in this passage as transgressing the Torah, then his relationship with God is not right.

“Now, this shouldn’t cause anyone to fret.  Our salvation is based upon Messiah’s work alone.  We can’t gain salvation by our obedience to Torah, neither can we maintain our salvation by obedience to the Torah.  The righteousness that we have is a free gift from God to us.  Halleluyah!  Now, in response to this gracious gift, we are called to lives of obedience.

“Being then made free from sin, you became the servants of righteousness.” (Rom 6:18)

“Who His own self bare our sins in His own body on the tree, that we, being dead to sins, should live unto righteousness: by whose stripes you were healed.” (1 Pet 2:24)

Thank You Jesus for your display of love to us.  Let us now demonstate our love toward you by keeping Your commandments!
