Denise Matthews: Sudan 2012 … “As Christians, we are all called to “go into all the world …” and that is enough to make believers from all over the world to stop what we’re doing to follow the Lord in obedience to His call. While our cups are filled and overflowing with blessings from God, there are people in this world whose cups remain empty…”

“Here’s my cup, Lord! I lift it up, Lord!”  God is filling me with amazement, expectation, and overflow as we prepare to pour into the lives of men, women and children in Sudan.

Sudan.  We’re nearly as surprised as you must be!  But we can assure you that God has opened a door of opportunity to be used by Him to declare His name, show His glory, and point men, women and children toward Him.

As Christians, we are all called to “go into all the world …” and that is enough to make believers from all over the world to stop what we’re doing to follow the Lord in obedience to His call.  While our cups are filled and overflowing with blessings from God, there are people in this world whose cups remain empty … and, they don’t even know it!

The cup represents lack–it’s not even half full!  So many people in Sudan have no Christian influence in their lives, no teachers, no Bibles, no Christian television, no means of learning the Truth. They have no knowledge of the amazing gift of salvation purchased for them by our Savior, Redeemer and Lord.  Their cup is empty, waiting to be filled.  (For more information on Sudan, click here.)

Oh the other hand, our cups are full! Count your blessings…we have many!  Consider your pantry…it is stocked!  Consider clean water…it runs freely!  Consider your access to Christian teaching and education…it’s available everywhere…and so much more!  Our cups are full!

A team of men and women will be leaving the US late this fall to do “pioneer” evangelism.  The Bible teaches us that people cannot “hear” unless someone tells them; the Truth will never be “discovered” until it is “disclosed” by presenting to them the simplest yet most profound message to all mankind:  “Jesus Christ, the Son of the Living God died to pay the penalty for our guilt and rose again so we can be reconciled to God and live to bring Him glory.”

There are two ways you can help this team meet the challenge of raising $3,500 to cover each trip fee.  The fee covers airfare, ground transportation, lodging, food, ministry materials, and more.

First, pray for the entire team.  This is not just your normal mission trip going into an area where we’re surrounded with believers and enjoying the evidence of a growing church movement.  Rather, this trip will lead us into unreached areas. We’ll meet opposition from culture and false religion. It’s imperative we have a strong team of men and women praying for us all!

If you will agree to pray for the team, please contact us so we can make sure we keep you up to date with the planning progress.

Second, we would appreciate help with the expenses associated with this outreach.  We will be spending the next several months making personal, spiritual, and emotional preparation.  We will need your help to cover ministry materials and other costs over and above the trip fees.

Please use the “Donate” button at the right to invest in this mission or choose from the various options below. The impact will be eternal, not only on the hearts we reach with the Gospel, but on everyone who has a part in praying and sending.

All donations are 100% tax deductible.  Whatever you can give will be turned into a blessing for the people in Sudan as well as for you.  After all, one of the greatest feelings we can experience is the thrill of touching a life and helping to change that life for the better.

Thanks for your prayerful consideration.  If you would like more information, please contact Denise Matthews, Executive Director of Heart of God East Africa, at dmatthews@heartofgodinternational.org.  She would love to hear from you to share more details and answer any questions you may have.
